36 Applications in Two Days, Land Pooling Policy Off to a Good Start
Land Pooling Policy web portal, launched by DDA on February 5, has received 36 applications in a matter of two days. This news comes directly from a senior DDA official.
The portal was launched by Union Minister Hardeep Puri and Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal. As the number of applications received now say, this was a welcome move indeed. The portal provides people who wish to participate in the Land Pooling Policy a single and smooth web platform to register and acquire relevant information.
First Stage of the Process
As another DDA official clarified, this is the first step of the process. After this, the process will continue in an equally structured manner. For now, he said, all that interested landowners have to do is provide accurate details of their land. DDA and the government will then together undertake the verification of this land information.
The policy has set for itself the high and noble goal of making available at least 1.7 million housing units. Of these, 5 lakh will be reserved for EWS. In total, 76 lakh people will find themselves a permanent home on completion of all policy plans.
Delhi people’s long wait for the launch of the land pooling policy has finally come to an end. This will, as Mr. Puri emphasized, take the burden off unauthorized colonies and people can again look forward to buying a house in a planned neighborhood. Hence, Mr. Puri was very confident at the launch that the policy will be welcomed by people. No doubt, his confidence has been proven right.
Under land pooling policy DDA has divided the duties for infrastructure development. It will take the role of facilitator, planner, and developer of common facilities. On the other hand, the development of land will be the responsibility of consortiums, landowners, and farmers themselves.
